A STUDENT from Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle has come third in an Ulster University poetry competition.
Nancy O’Baoill-Coyle’s poem Contamination was commended by the university’s English team in a high quality array of entries received.
The A Level student wrote the poem while she was on remote learning.
Principal Kevin Lambe said: “So many of our students have taken the opportunity of lockdown to achieve more and Nancy’s success with her very moving and challenging poem is one of our best examples. We are very proud of her.”
