Ryan delivers late Saintfield leveller

Ryan delivers late Saintfield leveller

SAINTFIELD were on their travels to East Belfast in the league on Saturday week to play Bloomfield, but had to settle for a share of the points after a frantic game on Saturday afternoon.

Saintfield started the game slowly and found themselves down 1-0 in the opening 10 minutes after Bloomfield were able to convert from a well- taken corner.

This seemed to spark the Saints into life and they started to dominate the latter part of the first half. Ten minutes before the end of the half they drew level when James Sofley found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Five minutes later and the game was turned on its head when James Sofley again found the back of the net after a knock down from David Morrow.

Bloomfield would draw level with a great free kick to see the game all square at half-time.

The Saints came out strongly for the second half and again were dominant in possession as they regained the lead through Ryan Sofley who made no mistake from the spot.

The game was to swing again into Bloomfield’s favour when a couple of dubious refereeing decisions saw them take a 4-3 lead with five minutes to go.

It wasn’t to stop the Saints digging deep and with the last kick of the ball, Ryan Sofley found his second goal from the spot of the game to grab the Saints a late point which, in the balance of play, should probably have been all three.
