Pub of Year success for Ardglass bar

A LOCAL pub has been named one of the best in Co Down and is now in with a chance of winning a Northern Ireland title.

Curran’s Bar and Seafood Steakhouse came first in the best food section in the regional heats of the recent Pubs of Ulster Pub of the Year awards. The Dundrum Inn was a finalist in the Best Food Pub category.

Pubs of Ulster, the professional body for the licensed trade in Northern Ireland, is searching to find the best pubs in Northern Ireland in a bid to recognise and reward the excellence that exists in the local industry.

The local winners were announced at the Down regional Pub of the Year presentations which took place recently at the Balmoral Hotel.

Curran’s Bar and Seafood Steakhouse now goes forward to the gala awards night at Belfast City Hall on November 14 where it will compete against other regional winners in the bid to be crowned the overall winner of its category.

Curran’s was selected along with other winners following an extensive judging process which, depending on the category, included written submissions, interviews or independent mystery shoppers.
