Police appeal after mature tree felled on Newcastle road

A MATURE tree was felled at Lawnfield Grove in Newcastle last weekend sparking a police appeal to find who was responsible.

It’s believed the tree, which blocked a main road, was unlawfully felled close to the entrance to Shimna Integrated College between 5.30pm last Saturday and 8.30am the following morning.

Police say there is evidence to suggest the tree has been deliberately cut and has not fallen down.
