A CARRYDUFF pensioner is facing charges of rape and human trafficking.
Kenneth Harvey (71), of Killynure Road, is also accused of controlling prostitution and paying for sexual services.
He appeared by video-link from custody at Belfast Magistrates’ Court last week.
The court heard that the charges arose following a search of premises in the Carryduff area a few days earlier.
The multiple charges of rape were allegedly committed between February 2017 and July 2020.
It was further alleged that the defendant facilitated the travel of a female with the view of her being exploited and controlled activities relating to her being prostituted.
No further details about the circumstances that led to his arrest were disclosed during the brief hearing.
A defence solicitor said Harvey would not be making an application for bail at this time.
District Judge Mark McGarrity remanded Harvey into custody to appear back in court by video-link next month.
