DRUMANESS Mills are on the verge of Border Cup glory after advancing to the final with a 3-0 thumping of Rosario YC at Seaview on Wednesday night.
Goals from Callum Dougan, Jack Sharvin and Oisin Savage ensured Mills are now set for a Christmas showpiece final against the winner of tonight’s other semi-final clash between Amateur League Premier Division high-flyers Crumlin Star and current holders Derriaghy.
Drumaness manager Mark Kerr described his team’s cup scalp as a “comprehensive performance” and was quick to praise his young side.
“I thought the level of football was outstanding,” he said.
“We scored some really good goals and we probably should have gotten a few more in the first half.
“I am really pleased, from where this club has came from three years ago being the bottom of the Premier Division and failing to win a game all year, to a Border Cup final for the first time in an awful long time is a special achievement.”
Meanwhile, Strangford confirmed their place in the Bobby Dalzell Cup final following a 4-1 victory over Rossglass County at Ballyhornan on Friday night.
Three goals inside the opening 15 minutes left Rossglass stunned and from that point Strangford never seemed in danger of forfeiting their lead.
The Strangford goals came from a Conal Fitzsimmons double, a Jordan Doran rocket and a neat James Mahoney finish.
John Thompson converted a late penalty for Rossglass but there was too much ground to make up and not enough time left on the clock.
