PADDY McDowell and Gerald McCaffrey have been crowned Ballynahinch and District Pool League champions after they defeated the pairing of Willie Stewart and Simon Gibson 3-0 in an entertaining final.
The winning duo, who form part of the Oakes team, began their tournament with a quarter-final victory over Davy Moore and Adrian Boyce, before progressing to the semi-finals where they overcame David Ross and Stephen Massey.
Impressively, the victorious pair never ped a game throughout the competition, whitewashing each of their opponents – truly worthy winners.
Meanwhile fellow finalists, Willie Stewart and Simon Gibson, defeated Gary Jess and Paul McCormick in their quarter-final tie before picking up a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Gary Reid and Robbie Todd in their semi-final clash.
Ultimately, McDowell and McCaffrey showed too much composure and took the title.
