MOURNE Stars Speech, Drama and Performing Arts were treated to an acting masterclass by a well-known Castlewellan actress recently.
Niamh McGrady is best-known for her parts as Nicole Devine-Dunwoody in Hope Street, Mary-Claire Carter in Holby City and PC Danielle Ferrington in the psychological thriller The Fall.
She delivered an exclusive workshop teaching screen acting, self-taping and delivered a Q&A to pupils who are interested in pursuing acting as a career.
Clare McAvoy, drama teacher at Mourne Stars and casting agent at Clare’s Star Talent, thanked Niamh for taking the time to inspire the young drama pupils.
“It was a fantastic day which sparked the imagination of all who attended,” she said.
“Niamh was a fantastic mentor for the young performers and answered their questions with lots of great advice and guidance.”
The visit was part of Clare’s new series of acting masterclasses with local actors who have years of experience and knowledge of the TV and Film industry.
Another Castlewellan actor Eileen O’Higgins, will lead a similar workshop later this month. She starred in the feature film Misbehaviour alongside Kiera Knightley and Keeley Hawes.
She starred with Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie in Mary Queen of Scots and with Antonio Banderas inGenius: Picasso.
Eileen also starred in the BAFTA-winning and Academy Award nominated Brooklyn, directed by John Crowley.
