Man escorted off pitch by police in stolen car probe

A 25 year-old man was arrested in the Crossgar area on Saturday afternoon as he was preparing to take part in a football match.

He was escorted off the pitch after PSNI Road Policing Interceptors from Sprucefield assisted their colleagues from Downpatrick in locating a stolen Audi A4 in the Crossgar area.

The vehicle was reported stolen as the result of a burglary sometime the previous evening.

The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, taking and driving away and driving whilst disqualified.

He was taken to a custody suite where he was interviewed in relation to the alleged offences.
