LOCAL Irish dancers shone brightly at a prestigious competition recently.
Members of the Brennan Miskelly McCormick School of Irish Dancing showcased their talents at the An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) Ulster Irish Dance Championships in Dundalk earlier this month.
CLRG, or The Irish Dancing Commission, is the oldest and largest governing body for competitive Irish dancing globally.
The championships were held at the Fairways Hotel and there were strong performances across all categories.
The Brennan Miskelly McCormick U-10 and U-15 teams were crowned Ulster champions in the four-hands competition, demonstrating their skill and teamwork.
In the ceili categories the local school secured second place in the U-12 section, third in the U-15 and senior categories and fifth in the U-18 category.
All three U-12 teams received medals in the fairy reels competition, further solidifying the local school’s reputation as a leading dance school in the region.
Brennan Miskelly McCormick also celebrated numerous podium finishes in the Priomh Comortas solo competitions, and several dancers earned medals and commendable placements in other events at the Championships.
The school is delighted that all pupils have qualified to dance at the World Championships in Dublin next April.
It is particularly pleased Berri King who has qualified for the Championships in the U-13 category.
The achievements at the Ulster Championships not only highlight the hard work of the dancers, but also the commitment of their instructors and the supportive community surrounding them at Brennan Miskelly McCormick’s School of Irish Dancing.
They look forward to building on this success at the World Championships next year.
