A LEITRIM man and his family have raised almost £1,900 for Air Ambulance NI.
Colm Quinn and his family have presented the charity with a donation of £1,874.50, which was raised through donations at Colm’s 40th birthday party alongside a raffle.
Colm’s wife, Moyra, highlighted the importance of their fundraising efforts.
“We as a family chose Air Ambulance NI as a sponsored charity for Colm’s 40th birthday bash,” she said.
“Living in Leitrim, which is a rural area and coming from a farming background, we understand how vital and important this service can be.
“We have been so humbled by the support from the Leitrim area and our family and friends having surpassed our initial wishes for money raised for which we are forever grateful.”
Bebhionn Hardy, Community Fundraising Coordinator at Air Ambulance NI, said: “Our service is needed on average twice every day by individuals involved in an unexpected trauma or medical emergency such as a serious road traffic collision, workplace or sporting incident or farm accident to name a few.
“We are very grateful to the Quinn family for their generosity.”
Air Ambulance NI, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, responds to the most serious accidents and incidents across the province.
Tasked on average 14 times each week, typically at least one of these call-outs involves a farming incident.
The charity plays a vital role in delivering emergency care across Northern Ireland, particularly in rural communities.
Relying entirely on public donations to remain operational, Air Ambulance NI needs £6,850 every day to sustain its life-saving service, making donations absolutely vital.
