THE KPMG Trophy at Rockmount Golf Club was won by senior citizen Paddy Lawlor (20), defying his age, he beat all the younger pretenders and continued his good form from last week when he and his partner finished second.
Paddy’s excellent round of nett 66 was two shots better than Joseph Mikhail (19) with a nett 68, Joseph was second. The low section (0-11) was won by Eddie Donaldson (8) with a nett 69.
The midsection (12-18) was won by Stephen Price (12) with a nett 72 and the high section (19-28) was won by Tony Wilson (22) also with a nett 72. The best round of the day was by Colin McClenaghan (2) who completed the 18 holes in two over par 74.
The Junior Cowdy team hosted Lurgan Golf Club on Sunday and captain Brendan Houston selected a strong team with a number of seasoned campaigners.
First out was the youthful Stephen Clarke and Pete Rowntree. They combined well and secured a 2 and 1 victory. Fresh from his victory on Saturday, Paddy Lawlor and Sean Lawell were out second, and in a tight match which went the distance, Paddy and Sean won by one hole.
William Wilson and Stephen Clyde were out third and in another tight match, which also went down 18, William and Stephen won by one hole.
The terrible twins, Russell and Neill Jamison, were last out and had the most convincing win of the day, 5 and 4.
The return leg is at Lurgan Golf Club on Sunday, as is the first leg of the Senior Cowdy competition, all supporters will be very welcome.
