KILLYLEAGH Library reopened yesterday after being closed to the public for almost a year.
The library shut its doors last year ahead of a £750,000 refurbishment scheme.
Changes have included the removal of the unused first floor of the building and the addition of new automated entrance doors, a new reception desk and library furniture and an upgrade to the public bathroom.
An energy-efficient heating system has also been installed with a new solar-panelled roof.
To improve accessibility, new paved external paths have been provided around the building along with a new access gate.
The library will be open four days a week, including Saturdays.
Karen Maginess, Libraries NI District Manager, said: “We are excited to welcome the community back to Killyleagh Library.
“The new library is a complete transformation with a modern, clean interior and exterior and increased accessibility for all.”
She added: “The library reopening marks a welcome return to services for the local community offering a comfortable space for all users and we look forward to hosting a programme of free events and activities over the coming months.”
