STUDENTS from Joseph Ferris Martial Arts Academies recently successfully competed in the Dundonald Savate Open.
The competition was hosted by Raptur Martial Arts at The Lair in the Inspire Business Park in Dundonald on February 27.
There was a total of 160 fights and the clubs took 90 gold wins which was a brilliant achievement.
Traditionally when the academies have a national or international competition, Sifu Joe presents the Jim Fettes Warrior Cup and trophy for the most inspirational junior and senior of the competition.
The Jim Fettes Warrior Cup and Trophy is awarded in memory of local man, Jim Fettes.
Jim was a great supporter of martial arts training.
He believed that it had a positive impact on young people and the community as a whole.
For this competition, Finn Carling from the Downpatrick academy was awarded the Junior Warrior Cup and Morgan Sandeman was awarded the Senior Warrior Trophy. Both awards were presented by Ashlinn Fettes, Jim’s daughter.
