Hot Liatroim sink sorry Teconnaught

LIATROIM’S stroll through the group stages continued unabated as they put Teconnaught to the sword in a desperately one-sided encounter.

The gap between Division 1 and Division 2 was clear for all to see as the Fontenoys’ greater strength, power and skills came to the fore.

To their credit, a young Teconnaught side fought hard to the final whistle and they now turn their attentions to maintaining their intermediate status.

Liatroim were 3-10 to 0-3 ahead at half-time. Their three goals arrived in a four-minute spell with Liam Doyle, Chris Regan and Aidan O’Prey all tucking home.

There was some fine point taking from Paddy O’Higgins’s team in this period, especially from Pearse Og McCrickard, who helped himself to four scores.

Ciaran Carville was Teconnaught’s main threat as he hit 0-2 with Conor Heath swooping for the other.

Liatroim attacked at will in the second half, tagging on another 18 points. They also introduced six subs from the bench, who all had an impact on proceedings.

Paddy Grant did manage a late goal for Teconnaught, but his effort was overshadowed by some fantastic kicking from William McCartan, Martin Doyle and Paul Burns.

The Fontenoys look in good shape for an assault on the IFC and they are sure to improve even further.

Martin Armstrong, Donagh O’Higgins and William McCartan defended resolutely, while third man midfielder PD Savage, Eoin Clarke and Peter Middleton dominated the middle third.

Liam Doyle and Aidan O’Prey seemed to have a telepathic understanding in the forward line with Doyle’s range of passing mesmeric at times. Pearse Og McCrickard and Chris Regan also impressed in the attack.

Ciaran Carville led the Teconnaught charge from full forward with Niall Sweeney and Tony Davis also working hard for the cause.
