ST Patrick’s Golf Club, Downpatrick, played host to Dundrum GAC’s Annual Golf Classic.
On the day, the weather didn’t disappoint and nor did the action as 20 teams took in the sunshine to play their way around a brilliantly kept course.
Numerous teams teed off from 10.30am right through to 4.30pm, all hoping to scramble together points to win the individual or team prize.
It was a close competition but it was Ken Hood’s team who won on the day with 93 points and Raymond McCormicks team placed second with 89 points.
The GUI winner on the day was Ken Hood again, with Niall Carson picking up first place for non-GUI players.
There was a tight call for the longest drive with chairman John Kielty being pipped to the title by Michael Keane.
Although, it could have gone either way and the two players decided on a draw.
Nearest the pin was Ken Hood. A total of 12 players beat the pro, these were: Callum McKibbin, Ken Hood, Raymond McCormick, Chris Prior, Paul Byrne, Matthew Baird, John O’Neill, Brendan Forde, Eugene Jennings, Pat Jennings, Adrian Mussen and Johnny Hogg.
This year’s competition was not possible without Dundrum’s title sponsor CHP Mechanical.
Huge thanks goes to John Smyth for sponsoring the event. Also, a huge thank you to those businesses and families who sponsored a tee or a green.
