Funeral to take place of accident victim (25)

THE funeral takes place today of Dunsford man Bradley Gilman who died days after a road crash in the early hours of Monday of last week.

The single vehicle accident happened at the Ballyhornan Road outside Downpatrick at 3.50am on May 29 when Mr Gilman (25), was driving a white Peugeot 3008. He was taken to hospital for treatment, but sadly died as a result of his injuries.

Family and friends paid their respects at St Mary’s Chapel in Dunsford last night and following a blessing this morning at 11.45am, a memorial service for Mr Gilman will be held at the Doagh Road crematorium in Newtownabbey at 2pm.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Gilman on social media, with many describing him as a “true gentleman”.

A friend wrote: “Thank you for all the laughs and good times over the years mate. You were one of a kind and you will be missed by everyone”.

Another said he was “one true gentleman taken far too soon”, while other said he was “such a lovely respectful young man”.

Other friends wrote of their shock at his death with one posting: “Still can’t believe the news it’s absolute devastating”.

Another added: “Rip Bradley mate, you were an absolute gentleman taken far too soon, rest easy buddy”.

Police investigating last week’s crash have issued an appeal for information and are keen to gar from anyone who may have been in the Ballyhornan Road area at the time of the accident to contact them.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage to contact the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit on the non-emergency 101 number, quoting reference number 234 of 29/05/23.

Mr Gilman is survived by his parents Michael and Anne and siblings Lisa, Glen and Shannon.
