Fun week returns

Fun week returns

3 August 2022

AFTER taking a short break Tollymore United’s soccer fun weeks have resumed in Newcastle.

Another 60 boys and girls are enjoying five days of football fun in wonderful weather at a very sunny Donard Park.

Despite initial warnings of rain, the latest fun week kicked off at the sun-drenched seaside town.

“We took a week’s break, as we do each summer, and over that period I was receiving dozens of texts about when we were starting back,” said fun week co-ordinator Paul Moore.

“It really shows the interest in football at the minute and it was also brilliant to arrive down to Donard Park on Monday morning and see the sun shining.”

The fun weeks appear to be as popular as ever as the boys and girls look forward to local youth leagues starting in September.

They are designed to introduce everyone taking part to basic football skills as well as getting them used to playing as part of a team.

There is also an element of fun with the penalty shootouts and crossbar challenges.

There is another fun week starting next Monday.

The cost is just £40 and everyone gets a medal and a ticket for a free ride on the Mourne Eye.

Application forms are available from the Newcastle Centre, Tesco, Crystal Clean Dry Cleaners, and McCready’s Shoes as well as other outlets.

Alternatively, you can be registered before the fun week starts by arriving early at Donard Park on Monday morning.
