FOREST Service officials have responded to residents’ concerns about deer accessing their rear gardens which back on to Donard Forest in Newcastle.
The work was carried about after the concerns of residents who live at King Street were raised with government department officials by Mournes councillor Willie Clarke.
Cllr Clarke — who also lives in King Street — said some of the deer had also found their way on to his back garden.
He added: “I met with Forest Service officers and residents and it was agreed to put in place a fence to make secure a large gap in the boundary wall which deer were able to get through.
“I wish to thank officials for listening to residents’ concerns and undertaking work to improve the security of their respective properties.”
