AWARD-WINNING Downpatrick firm Finnebrogue Artisan has secured a contract to supply eight new plant-based lines to up to 434 Asda stores across the UK.
The products — which will join Asda’s 73 strong plant-based range — include meat-free chicken style nuggets, southern fried goujons and kievs, a chicken-style shawarma, chicken style pieces, beef-style strips, meat free bacon style rashers and a newly improved mince recipe using the latest technology.
Finnebrogue’s relationship with Asda began in 2014, with the production of the retail giant’s award-winning Extra Special sausage range.
Since then, the Downpatrick company has created over 50 new products including Extra Special festive lines which boasted a first to market a vegan turkey joint and two new pig in blankets products for last Christmas.
Finnebrogue’s new product development manager, Laura Wills, said the company was delighted to have extended its supply contract with Asda.
“This latest deal will allow Asda shoppers to experience ground-breaking plant-based products developed to look and taste exactly like their meat counterparts without the compromise,” she explained.
“This further investment in the continued growth of meat-free protein category within Asda and their support in the launch of our new facility demonstrates the desire of consumers to reduce their meat intake. Therefore, it is our job to ensure we always deliver on quality and taste.”
She said that the new Finnebrogue products have been created with the Asda shopper at heart and are perfect for the whole family to enjoy.
Emma Swan, Asda’s buying manager for Northern Ireland Local, said the company was continually on the look-out for ways it could add value to its plant-based range and that the relationship with Finnebrogue Artisan allowed it to do just that.
“The commitment and dedication Finnebrogue brings to the table in the creation of new lines is testament to the quality product we can bring to our customers,” she continued.
“We are very proud to introduce eight new lines to shelves across the UK from a local supplier and we know shoppers are going to love the range.”
