FORMER Rowallane DUP councillor William Walker is to appear at a Crown Court to answer charges of having sexually explicit chats with children.
Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court heard last Thursday that a preliminary enquiry was being prepared by the Public Prosecution Service to be held on March 2.
Walker (59), from Killyleagh, is currently on bail and living in a hotel in Blackpool.
The former Newry, Mourne and Down councillor faces allegations of sexually communicating with two children in February last year.
Walker, who has since resigned from the DUP, was the subject of a sting operation by a pedophile hunter group who then informed the PSNI which lead to his subsequent arrest.
Walker did not appear in court last Thursday, but a defence solicitor said his client would attend the preliminary enquiry.
