A CROSSGAR woman, who teaches signing to babies to help their development, has been named as a finalist in the Women in Business NI Awards.
Deirdre McLaughlin, of Sign2Music, has been shortlisted in the Excellence in IT category.
This is the second year Deirdre, who beat hundreds of others to win the NI4Kids Coach of the Year Award earlier this year, has reached the finalists’ shortlist for the awards which will be held in the Culloden Hotel on November 20.
Deirdre set up Sign2Music in 2007 after enjoying the benefits of signing with her youngest daughter, Cara.
Sign2Music has since grown throughout Northern Ireland, delivering classes for babies and toddlers, parties, sessions and training for nurseries, schools.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for the Women in Business Awards for the second year running,” she said.
“It makes all the hard work worthwhile and proves that a little business like mine can get recognition.
“Winning the NI4Kids Coach of the Year Award earlier this year was particularly special because I was nominated by those who have come to my classes, parties, sessions or training events.
“To be recognised by both the business community and service users in the same year is the best feeling ever.”
