Couple to stand trail on drugs charges

27 August 2014

A CROSSGAR couple accused of allowing their home to be used for cocaine production are to stand trial this autumn.

Robert and Christine Clifford, both 31, from Derryboy Road, appeared at Downpatrick Crown Court on Friday.

The couple, who deny the charge, also pleaded not guilty to possessing cocaine and possessing the class A drug with intent to supply.

Both were remanded on bail to appear back in court on September 2.

Three co-accused defendants in the case — Terence MacCrory (51), from Sunningdale Gardens, Belfast, John Harvey (48), from Ardoyne Road, Belfast, and Edward Dunn (48), of Masons Rise, Broadstairs, Kent — had their court appearances adjourned until next week.

These defendants face charges relating to possessing cocaine with intent to supply. Dunn is also charged with possessing cannabis.

The alleged offences arose after police raided the Cliffords’ house in August last year and seized three kilos of cocaine, said to be worth around £150,000.
