Country and western dancers on top of the world

A GROUP of local dancers have returned home after striking gold in the country and western world dance championships in America. 

Three girls from the Kasana Dance Studio in Downpatrick competed in the United Country Western Dance Council  (UCWDC) World Championships in Nashville, Tennessee.

Aisling Vaughan won two titles in the Newcomer Primary Pro-am and Newcomer Primary Classic Solo categories.  

Niamh Fionda won the Newcomer Classic Solo Youth category and was second in the Pro-am Newcomer Youth section.  

Dance teacher Kathryn Patterson was named world champion in the Intermediate Open Classic Solo division.
