Clough veterans’ retreat is set for September opening

30 July 2025

WORK is underway for a new veterans’ retreat near Clough.

The fully-resourced retreat at Kennedy’s Lake will accommodate veterans, NHS front line staff and their families.

It will aim to facilitate handicapped access to secure camping as well as access to fishing, wildlife observation and crafts.

Alderman Glen Barr from Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Council, who is Community Builder for the charity Help for Heroes, and Alex Bailie, also from the charity, visited the site recently to see the transformation work which is getting underway.

The Let’s Do Veterans Support charity is led by Robert Maxwell and will be working to complete as much of the planned new infrastructures as possible before a planned open day next month.

Storms earlier this year cut through leaving a trail of destruction that Robert and his team are not only intent on repairing but improving.

“We are focusing on being ready by September 27 to welcome folk for a full day of entertainment for all,” Robert said.
