Classic and Sports Car Show ready for top gear

29 January 2025

TAKE a trip down memory lane as the Indoor Classic and Sports Car Show returns to Newcastle next month.

The event is being organised by the Classics Charity Committee in aid of Cancer Research and will take place in the Slieve Donard Hotel over the weekend February 7-9.

On the floor of the ballroom will be an array of vehicles dating 1929 to 1995, including marques such as Vauxhall, Austin, Porsche, Fiat, Rover and Bentley, as well as some commercial vehicles, motorcycles and sports cars.

Some of the vehicles have been restored to a better-than-new condition while others are totally original.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Mark 2 Ford Escort, a 1975 model, which would have cost £2,825 back then, will be on display.

The show will also have stalls selling jewellery, antiques, diecast models, classic car prints, parts and memorabilia.

Show organiser Bill Forsyth said: “We are proud to stage yet another classic show in the most comfortable surroundings inside the famous Slieve Donard Hotel.

“This event has always been well attended, often having 4,500 to 5,000 spectators over the weekend.”

Mr Forsyth added: “This show is very much in memory of old vehicles with a story to tell and it’s a great social event bringing people together in a winter month.”

The show will be open on Friday, February 7, from  2pm-10pm, Saturday, February 8, from 10am-10pm and Sunday, February 9, from 10am-5pm.
