A PUPIL from Carrickmannon Primary School has been named by the Health and Safety Executive of Northern Ireland as one of 12 winners in its annual farm safety calendar.
Charlie Connolly was selected from almost 600 children who submitted a picture relating to a key topic on farm safety.
In their entries, the children highlighted some of the many hazards involved in working with animals, slurry, and equipment, as well as the risks of working at height.
Each of the weekly winners received a £30 gift voucher and their entry will feature in next year’s Child Safety on Farms calendar.
HSENI works in partnership with schools and while the annual competition helps in raising farm safety awareness in children, the calendar acts as a daily reminder of the very real dangers that exist for everyone on a farm.
The calendar will be launched later this year and distributed to around 42,000 rural homes across Northern Ireland.
