Charity group celebrates raising huge sum

10 April 2019

FRIENDS of the Cancer Centre’s Newcastle fundraising group is delighted to announce it has raised a phenomenal £25,000 since it began in 2014.

The group has worked tirelessly since then, organising street collections, table quizzes and various other fundraising events.

The group have also played a vital role in raising awareness of the charity by attending events and cheque presentations on behalf of the charity.

Their next fundraiser is a street collection in Newcastle on Monday, April 22.

For over 30 years, Friends of the Cancer Centre has been dedicated to making a meaningful difference to cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland.

The charity works to enhance the quality of patient care and support through its life-changing and life-saving work which includes funding additional nurses, supporting local research and providing practical support, such as financial grants, which can help patients through a difficult time.

Friends of the Cancer Centre relies entirely on the generosity of the local community and all money donated stays in Northern Ireland, directly benefiting patients and their families.

Claire Hogarth, Fundraising Manager for Friends of the Cancer Centre, said: “Fundraising groups are an integral part of the charity and the work we do to support people affected by cancer.

“The commitment and dedication from the Newcastle fundraising group to raise funds and awareness of Friends of the Cancer Centre is vital to the work we do for people.

“I would encourage other people to join them, whether it’s placing a collection can in your local shop, volunteering at a street collection or helping the group to organise an event, your support will make a difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland.”

Claire is urging anyone who can help with the April 22 street collection in Newcastle to contact her on 028 9069 9393 or email
