Celebration time for Aughlisnafin

27 November 2019

AUGHLISNAFIN GAC held their annual presentations and dinner in the Burrendale Hotel last Saturday evening with Armagh and Crossmaglen Rangers legend Oisin McConville as the special guest.

Major awards were as follows: seniors — manager’s player of the year, Donagh Steele; manager’s sportsperson, Sean Fitzsimmons; players’ player, Donagh Steele.

Minors — manager’s player, Morgan Croskery; manager’s sportsperson, Peter O’Hare; players’ player, Ben Ogle.

Senior players Oran Flanagan and Oisin O’Toole, received a commemorative league winners shield, on behalf of the squad, which has the names of every player and the management team engraved on it.

The senior panel and management team were also presented with league and championship medals and the minors were presented with their All County league medals.

There were two recipients of the club person of the year award — chairperson Sheena Murray in recognition of an outstanding first term in her role and also Gerard Lenaghan in his role as coaching officer and PRO.

The final award of the evening was presented to club vice-chairperson and senior player Rory Murphy in recognition of his outstanding contribution over the past 15 years.

Oisin McConville was then invited to say a few words and spoke well with excellent advice for the future and encouraging rank and file members to put their shoulders to the wheel.

There is much to do in a growing club and help is vital to sustain the club’s development. Thanks to the Burrendale for a lovely meal and to DJ’B’ for the music.

Last, but not least, thanks to everyone who attended in support of the event.
