CROSSGAR boxer Bryce Collins was crowned an Irish champion at the weekend.
Twenty year-old Bryce won the 48 kilo light flyweight title at the National Elite/Senior Championships at the National Stadium in Dublin — the hallowed home of Irish boxing.
Bryce boxes out of the famous Holy Trinity Club in Belfast and was a member of the Crossgar-based East Down ABC.
Bryce was following in the footsteps of Holy Trinity legend Gerry Hawkins, a three-time National Senior champion and double Olympian, who represented Ireland at the Moscow Olympics in 1980 and the Los Angeles games four years later.
