Banking hub opens in boost for community in Newcastle

11 December 2024

NEWCASTLE’S new banking hub has officially opened for business.

The Cash Access UK facility – located at Main Street in the resort – officially opened last Friday morning.

The new hub offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

In addition, it also offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub.

Services for Santander, Ulster Bank, Danske Bank and Barclays banks will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays respectively.

Cash Access UK said it was delighted to have been able to secure convenient premises in the heart of the Newcastle community.

Over the past few months the premises have been fitted out, with the Newcastle hub the fourth of its kind to open in Northern Ireland, with another in Comber due to open later this month.

Cash Access UK chief executive, Gareth Oakley, said it delighted the Newcastle hub is now open.

“Access to cash and face-to-face services are vital for many people so we’re delighted to continue providing these services for the local community,” he said.

“It’s important to remember that customers can visit for their everyday banking transactions and if you have a specific or more complex enquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they’re in the hub.”
