BALLYNAHIINCH U-14s secured a routine win at home on Saturday in very difficult conditions.

Rain and strong winds battered the players throughout and full credit must go to both sides for their efforts.

The first half proved to be the difference between both sides, with Hinch securing all their points before the whistle and Newry getting their consolation tries in the second half.

In the first, ‘inch looked threatening every time they were on the ball and tries rained in within the first ten minutes.

Cameron Patterson (2) Matthew Torney and Brendan McKenna all finished quick runs on the left hand side to give ‘Hinch a commanding lead.

Full Back Jojo Naga added a fifth score before Kai Shields got his fourth try in four games to put ‘Hinch out of sight.

Before half-time, there was

just enough on the clock for Luke Hamilton to secure his first try for the club, giving ‘Hinch a 37-0 lead at the break.

Wholesale changes came along in the second half, with almost a full new team taking the field. Kobi Dunn took the captain’s armband and continued his assault on the Newry defence.

Sean Robb and Daire Cahill played their first games for the club and despite Newry scoring two tries in the last ten minutes, it was a good day at the office for ‘Hinch, who maintain their grip at the top of the league.
