Ballynahinch Camera Club competition in memory of Charlie

Ballynahinch Camera Club competition in memory of Charlie

23 March 2022

BALLYNAHINCH Camera Club members welcomed Vitorrio Silvestri, from CPA Camera Club, last Thursday night to judge the entries which had been submitted for the annual Charlie Rutledge Memorial competition.

Charlie was a much loved and respected founding member of Ballynahinch Camera Club and his great passion was mono photography.

After Charlie passed away in 2016 it was decided to hold a competition each year in his memory and what other genre of photographs could such a competition attract but black and white?

Vitorrio gave a critique on each image and, in some cases, demonstrated how they could be improved. He chose images from the following club members as the prize winners:

1st Terry Hanna, 2nd Muriel Darling, 3rd Frances Price; highly commended and commended, John McCullough.

At the end of the meeting, members were given a challenge for the next meeting. The challenge is to produce self-portraits using as much imagination and as many different techniques as possible. One such technique could be multiplicity — watch this space.

New members are always welcome and if anyone with an interest in photography would like more details of joining the club they should visit the club website:  www.ballynahinchcameraclub.co.uk.
