A NEW exhibition by local artist Patricia McCormick has opened at the Sir Hans Sloane Centre in Killyleagh.
Running until the end of the month, the exhibition contains a wide selection of Patricia’s paintings which are also for sale.
Opened last Saturday, Patricia’s exhibition followed hot on the heels of one in the same venue by the Killyleagh Painting Group whose members are tutored by her.
Group members meet every Tuesday morning between 9.3am and 11.30am under the guidance of tutor and local artist Patricia McCormick, who taught art at Grosvenor High School in Belfast for over 36 years.
Throughout her life, she has been painting in many mediums, but primarily now focuses on acrylics and watercolours.
Her new exhibition is a broad mix of subjects from landscapes and seascapes with many modern vibrant art paintings.
Patricia has also continued to pass on her knowledge and skills to individuals and groups and has completed many commissions for people.
The Killyleagh Painting Group is targeted at beginners and more experienced artists, the friendly and supportive group — with members from Newcastle to Moneyreagh – offers tips, advice, some chat and additional contact via Whatsapp.
Weather permitting, classes are held outdoors in the area. During lockdown, they were held via Zoom.
Though landscapes and seascapes are popular, portrait and abstract painting are also covered in the classes. Most group members took up painting for the first time during the pandemic and to hold an exhibition in such a short timespan is a credit to their ability and tuition.
New members are always welcome to join the Killyleagh group whether experienced or having never painted before but would like to give it a go.
