Ardglass is ready for festival fun

3 August 2022

ARDGLASS Festival returns this week following a two-year absence owing to the Covid pandemic with a packed itinerary of family fun.

Events kick off today with the Ardglass 10km and 5Km road races which will take runners of all abilities around two scenic and challenging runs.

Registration is at St Nicholas’ Primary School from 5pm and the races begin at 7pm.

During the week children can participate in ‘It’s A knock out for the Kids’, while their parents get to pit their wits against each other in a variety of street games.

A raft race will also take place for all age groups, alongside the traditional sand castle activities, a family fun run and teddy bears’ picnic.

The festival culminates on Sunday, August 7 with a crescendo of colour and cacophony of sound as the popular float and fancy dress parade takes place, commencing at St Nicholas PS at 1pm.

It will wind its way through the area before coming to a stop at the Meadow playing fields where a family fun day will continue the festivities from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

The Festival Association has worked tirelessly to deliver a packed programme and would ask everyone participating to keep the town tidy by using the bins provided or taking home their rubbish.

A full programme of events is available from all local retailers and online at Ardglass Festival Association Facebook page.
