A BALLYNAHINCH woman has been appointed president of Presbyterian Women.

Mrs Ann Wilson, who is a member of  First Ballynahinch Presbyterian Church, was appointed at the organisation’s recent annual conference.

Presbyterian Women supports the development of ministry among women throughout the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

In her first address as president Mrs Wilson, said it was good for the organisation to be able to come together without Covid restrictions.

She said: “We are thankful to God that this past year so many Presbyterian Women groups have got up and running once more, despite the challenges they may have faced. Moving forward hasn’t always been easy, and for some of our groups difficult decisions have had to be made.

“Through our recent themes, Presbyterian Women have been encouraged to focus on the importance of deepening relationships with each other and, above all, with God. We have been reminded that relationships are an important part of Christian ministry and service.”

The outgoing president, Esther Parker, thanked everyone for their support during her period in office.

The guest speaker at the conference was the Rev Ali Calvin, rector of Christ Church in Kilkeel.
