AN impressive £52,781 was raised during a recent a tractor run held in memory of James Malone from Leitrim.

James — who tragically passed away in March — would have celebrated his 21st birthday this year and was affectionately known in the family as ‘the joker” for the craic and laughs he shared with his friends  and for his hard work and passion.

The ‘Wee James’ Tractor Run’ saw approximately 500 tractors and machinery on display, as well as a throng of people in attendance.

In a statement online, the Malone family said it was “completely overwhelmed” and in disbelief at the response to the charity event in aid of PIPS, St.Vincent de Paul and the Mind your Mate and Yourself.

“From the get go, we have been flooded with everyone’s support and kindness,” the family statement continued.

“Not only was it the perfect tribute to James, a real celebration of his life, but also a special moment between family and friends and a reminder to everyone you are never alone.

“We would like to thank everyone who came along to support us. Whether it was by tractor, car, bike or foot, your presence made us feel so loved.”

The Malone family said it was “blown away by people’s extreme generosity” and thanked everyone who supported the event and all those who helped behind the scenes.
