ALLISON Crichton defied challenging conditions to win Anne Teggart’s Lady Captain’s Day at St Patrick’s Golf Club on Saturday.

The combination of a new chipping technique and a red-hot putter helped her to a total of 38 points.

The key to her round was her playing of the par threes, which she parred, with the exception of a bogey at the difficult 15th, which was played into the teeth of a strong wind.

A total of 40 ladies took part in the blue riband competition of the ladies’ calendar at the club.

In second place on 39 points was junior member Cara Fitzsimons, while the gross prize went to Twyla Gibson with an 88.

The Category 1 prize was won by Geraldine Magill with 37 points, Roisin Ramsey won Category 2 with 34 points and the Category 3 winner was Renee Wallace with 38 points.

Elizabeth Mageean won the past lady captains’ prize with 32 points and Sheena Burke won the committee prize with 34 points.

Ann Grant won the Get Into Golf prize with 36 points and Agnes Logue was the popular winner of the nine-hole competition with 14 points.

There were nearest-the-pin prizes for Caitlin Burke (8th), Vera Kelly (11th) and Martina Fitzsimons (15th).

The men’s guests competition was won by Lawrence Craig with a 52 nett.

The lady captain congratulated the prize winners and all the competitors for their support.

She also thanked the greenkeeping staff, as well as the catering and bar staff, for making it such a memorable day.
