TEMPLE and District Vintage and Classic Club’s annual rally is returning for the first time since the pandemic.
The much-anticipated charity event takes place next Thursday, July 28, with proceeds going to Air Ambulance NI.
Meeting at Temple Golf Club car park from 5pm, the vintage rally will include cars, motorbikes and tractors. The rally will commence at 7.30pm, making its way through Temple.
Kenneth Goodfellow, from the Temple and District Vintage and Classic Club committee said: “We would like to encourage everyone in the local area to get behind our event, as its sure to be an amazing evening.
“We have some fantastic support from the local community, including Temple Golf Club and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for continuing to support this annual event.
“We as a committee thoroughly enjoy organising this event, and we hope that as this we have had a hiatus due to the pandemic, that this year will be bigger and better. It’s £10 to enter and it is sure to be an event for the whole family.”
He added: “As we are all road users, we never know quite know when you will need the assistance of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service team and I appreciate the value this lifesaving service can bring to areas with extended travel times, for specialist emergency care.”
The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) responds on average to 2 incidents daily, somewhere in Northern Ireland. Since the service first launched in July 2017, the HEMS has been tasked on over 2,969 occasions.
The charity Air Ambulance NI, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, provides the HEMS for Northern Ireland. The HEMS team attend patients who are seriously ill or injured, bringing emergency pre hospital care direct to the casualty, with the aim of saving lives.
Grace Williams, Air Ambulance NI Area Fundraising Manager, said: “Kenneth and the committee are a real inspiration, organising this unique fundraising event, combining their passion for vintage and classic vehicles and support for their local Air Ambulance. We are just so delighted that they have chosen to support Air Ambulance NI in this unique way.
“As a service we rely heavily on charitable donations to keep the medical team in the air, delivering critical care to patients who have suffered trauma throughout Northern Ireland - without continued support, the team simply couldn’t fly. Every single penny counts.
With a daily fundraising need of £5,500, we are so grateful to Kenneth and the committee for this wonderful opportunity.”
