A CHARITY night in memory of Saintfield motorbike rider Davy Morgan was a huge success.
The event, organised by Temple Motorcycle and Athletic Club, was held in Eight South in Carryduff.
Morgan (52), who was a member of the club, died following a crash at the Isle of Man TT last June.
When Temple club secretary Mark Harrison suggested holding a charity evening in his honour no one could have known what an incredible event it would be.
The attendance exceeded all expectations and spoke volumes of Davy’s popularity and the respect in which was held.
Everyone wished to share their memory of a gentleman who himself had raised thousands for charitable causes.
The night was filled with entertainment, fundraising and fond memories. Local businesses, friends, club members and motorcycle enthusiasts kindly donated incredible items of motorcycle paraphernalia and prizes which were auctioned off to those in attendance.
Auction items included an oil painting of Davy racing, which was commissioned and donated by Joe McBride and painted by Colin Geddis. It raised an incredible £2,800.
A helmet donated by James Thompson, of Arai Helmets, and emblazoned by Alan Finlay, of Paint Box, in Davy´s famous pink racing colours raised a further £2,100.
A host of other remarkable and much appreciated items were kindly donated, ensuring that the auction alone raised a fantastic amount towards the evening with all proceeds going to Air Ambulance NI, the charity chosen by Davy´s partner, Trudy.
Sally Harrison received a crystal vase on behalf of Trudy as a token of the club’s remembrance of their late member and friend.
The entire event raised £10,000 which was presented to the Air Ambulance last week week.
The Temple club presented an engraved crystal vase to the family of the late Jim Cray for his lifetime of work and commitment to the club and to the sport of motorcycle racing.
Temple Motorcycle Club and its members extend their sincere gratitude to everyone in attendance on the evening, to Eight South, all those who generously donated and provided auction and raffle items.
