Yachtsman says thanks

SIR, — As the yachtsman who was grounded on the rocks outside the entrance to Ardglass harbour, I would like to convey my sincere thanks to all the emergency services involved for their professionalism and humanity during my rescue.

Also a special thanks to Ross Mulhall who was the civilian who thought he saw my distress signal and took the time to verify this by signalling to me and getting in touch with the Coastguards. Without his contribution I would have had a very unpleasant wait until morning broke.

I would also like to single out the brothers, Aaron and Jude Rooney, for their help in the recovery of the yacht along with the Lifeboat and a special thanks to them for all their help afterwards.

I feel humbled by the helpfullness of the community of Ardglass.

Yours etc,

RAB BICKET.
