WAITING for the announcement of the first preference votes at South Down and it appears to be a contest between Jim Wells (DUP) and Sinead Bradley (SDLP) for poll topper.

Both have polled over 5,000 votes and will be elected in the early stages of the count.

Also polling well are Chris Hazzard and Caitriona Ruane (Sinn Finn), Colin McGrath (SDLP) and Harold McKee (UUP).
