Well done to Crossgar residents after beacon

SIR, — With Halloween in Crossgar as far away as ever, I am writing to thank everyone involved in making last week’s celebrations in the village really enjoyable, despite the wet evening.

The programme of events at Lislea Drive was really great which included the lighting of the beacon. There was a good crowd in attendance and the general consensus at the end of the evening was “brilliant, a good job well done.”

I would particularly like to thank a number of people who made sure last Monday night’s Halloween celebrations were a great success.

They include members of Down Council’s Bonfire Liaison Committee, Community Safety Officer Mark Kent, the PSNI and other statutory agencies, including the district’s Community Safety Partnership.

Thanks also to Darryl Madine and Kilmore Rec who took responsibility for running the event, making sure everything went like clockwork. The stew and soup on a cold winter’s evening was also very welcome.

Once again congratulations to everyone involved, from the organisers to those who supported the event.

The children were also well behaved on the night.

I am already looking forward to next year’s celebrations.

Yours etc.,

CLLR. TERRY ANDREWS,

Crossgar.
