Stunning scenery

SIR, — Having visited Down last year for a two week holiday can I suggest that Newry, Mourne and Down Council’s recently published Tourism Strategy highlights the stunning beauty of the area and the charm and welcome of the people.

The Lecale coast and the Ards peninsula are the jewels in the crown which, combined with the Mourne Mountains, offer tourists a unique holiday experience.

We visited the St Patrick’s Centre, his grave, and the Downpatrick Railway but it is the natural and unspoilt environment that is the unique selling point of the destination.

I will never forget driving down the Ards peninsula and watching seals basking on the rocks there. For tourists that want a natural holiday Down is unbeatable.

Yours etc,

Dr Lesley Webb,

England.
