Student designers through to final of fashion challenge

Student designers through to final of fashion challenge

22 February 2017

TWO student entries from St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan, have been shortlisted for the

Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture competition.

The school is hoping the public will vote online for the two entries You Shall Go to the Ball, by Aodhan Wynn and Kathleen Rooney, and Broken Halo, by Annabell Lowe, Ellie Louise Rogan and Olivia Rooney.

The national contest encourages young designers in second level education to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin.

The event aims to inspire teenagers, while subtly educating them about the importance of recycling and reusing waste.

Over the last six years, Junk Kouture has established itself as the premier recycled fashion competition for teenagers throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Winners are selected through votes over a one week period.

Voting is open until February 24 through the northern region on the online link http://bit.ly/BOIJK2017
