Speed ramps call

SIR, — Is it not nearly time for ramps to be installed at Ballyalton village?

Cars drive through the village at speeds of up to 70mph and on race days at Bishopscourt they drive through the village as if it is is part of the race circuit.

There are three ramps in Fountain Street, five on the Vianstown Road, and 23 in Saul Street and the Saul Road.

I have asked South Down Assemblyman Colin McGrath, South Down MP Chris Hazzard and local councillor Cadogan Enright about this when they were canvassing for votes. They all promised they would do something. Alas, no action has been taken.

Now there are fast approaching 100 houses in this small village . Will it take some child to be killed before the politicians will act?

So much for the 30mph speed limit.

Yours etc,

CONCERNED.
