Sisters of Mercy car boot sale for Zambian children

THERE will be a fundraising car boot sale in Donard Park in Newcastle on Saturday, April 18.

The sale will be hosted by the Sisters of Mercy with money raised from some of the stalls going in aid of Zambian schoolchildren.

Sr Mary de Largy, from Downpatrick, has arranged the sale after spending eight years working with young people in Zambia.

She will return to the African country in August to meet students who will be sponsored thanks to the money raised through the sale.

“Sponsoring children and young people through school is the only chance they have to move out of poverty and become self reliant,” she said.

“Young Zambians are amazingly resilient and determined to get o school or college if they can find a sponsor.”
