Shimna Stars meet Rose

SHIMNA Stars Special Olympics Club athletes were guests on the Big O radio show last weekend.

Three of the athletes who will be attending the Special Olympics Games in Limerick in June, club manager Daniel Hardy and coach Laurence McAlinden were interviewed by Big O — real name Ollie McMahon — about the club, their current training and the arrangements for Limerick.

Also appearing on the show was Shannon Parr, the current Down Rose.

Club training continues in Shimna College each Tuesday from 6.30pm. The club will hold a sponsored walk from Shimna College along the Promenade to the Slieve Donard Hotel and back to Shimna College next Tuesday, May 13.

The final league and skills day takes place at Antrim Forum on Saturday, June 7. Then it’s off to Limerick on Thursday, June 12, for all those athletes selected to represent Team Ulster.
