Sean (Junior) King

THE death has taken place of Mr. Sean King (Junior) at his home, 27 Newcastle Road, Castlewellan on October 20.

He was the eldest of six children and was affectionately known as Junior around the area.

Sean was educated at the local St Malachy’s Primary School, St Malachy’s Belfast and Garron Tower. At the age of 18 he started work in the Downshire Hospital, Downpatrick, and retired as Ward Manager after 40 years of service.

Sean also had a drapery business in Castlewellan and a drapery service around the Strangford/Killough area, where he made many good friends.

He was a devoted family man who loved life, being a member of Mourne Golf Club and Kilmegan Bowling Club, both hobbies he enjoyed very much.

A man of strong faith his religion played a large part in his life. Although he had a serious illness Sean faced it with dignity and strength, drawing on his faith and family for comfort and support.

Sean is survived by his loving wife Jean, sons Mark and Eoghain, daughter Roisin, daughter-in-law Cuan, son-in-law Paul, grandchildren Clara and Jonathan as well as a large family circle. He is predeceased by daughters, Gillian 1965 and Pauline 1978.

Sean was buried in Aughlisnafin cemetery on Monday October 22, after Requiem Mass in St. Malachy’s Church, Castlewellan, celebrated by Fr. McKinley.
