Rowing club taster event

Rowing club taster event

8 May 2019

KILLYLEAGH Coastal Rowing Club is urging people to take to the water this weekend.

The club is organising a series of taster rowing sessions this Sunday as part of the Get Wet NI campaign.

It’s a great opportunity to try rowing for the first time and learn the basics in a friendly club atmosphere.

The sessions take place from the Netwalk and cost £2 for adults and £1 for children aged 11 and over. No prior experience or specialist equipment is required.

The aim of the Get Wet campaign is to encourage more people to participate in watersports across Northern Ireland by having a go with local clubs.

A range of clubs based all over Northern Ireland will be offering taster events in a variety of watersports including canoeing, sailing, rowing and diving.

SportNI is one of the leading organisations behind the initiative and their Active Outdoors Development Officer, Mike McClure, believes it is a great way for people to get into a water sport and to eventually join a club.

He said: “Get Wet NI is a wonderful way for people to experience the great natural water resources we have here in Northern Ireland and hopefully by taking part in this campaign it will help develop favourite past-times that participants will take part in for many years to come”.
